Hi there, my name is Steacy Hinton, and I am the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP) Consultant with Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board. You are receiving this invitation because your child is participating in a Skilled Trades Cooperative Education placement.
SMCDSB is proud to promote the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP) to students and parents. Each year over 150 students in Simcoe County and Muskoka are registered as apprentices as a result of their high school co-op placement. This is an incredible head start in their apprenticeship with many of these students becoming licensed in their trade by the time they are 21 years old.
We would like to invite you and your son or daughter to an information session on Thursday, November 29, 2018 from 7:00pm to 8:15pm at the Holiday Inn, 20 Fairview Road, Barrie. This information session will provide you with the opportunity to:
- Hear directly from local employers and past oyap students
- Learn about the benefits of apprenticeship in Ontario
- Meet school board contacts who can explain the board process
- Receive coaching on how to turn a co-op placement into an apprenticeship
- Ask questions!
